Patio Garden Windows?

Notice that all the windows of the Patio Garden are hinged. These windows are not meant to be removed. They can be opened outward or pushed completely in and will make a "click" sound.

What's the best kind of plant mix?

The truth is that there are all sorts of great planting mediums. But there are some planting mediums that are best for plants growing in containers like the Patio Garden. Any plant mix that includes sphagnum peat moss and composited wood products, preferably pre-fertilized, is just fine. You can find this type of planting mix at most garden centers.

What's the best way to plant seeds?

To plant up your Patio Garden, open a window and insert the seed into the medium to the depth indicated on the seed package. Push the medium over the hole made and leave the window open. To plant a start, open a window and remove only enough medium to make room for the root ball of your plant. Insert the root ball, fill medium around it gently firming it into place. Then, of course, leave the window open!

How easy is it to water the Patio Garden?

In the early growth stages of the Patio Garden, watering of the unit may not be necessary for several days at a time. As the plants get larger they will require more water. In the warmest weather, the Patio Garden will most likely need daily watering. Water will seep out the bottom cover when the unit is thoroughly watered. Therefore, included in the patio garden is a clear plastic plate that collects excess water for those of you who may be planting indoors or on a nice wood patio.

What are some good fertilizing practices?

Most garden stores carry water-soluble fertilizers. In fact, a fertilizer can be found to meet almost any need of flowers or vegetables. Mix fertilizer by the directions given using enough water solution to dampen the entire unit. Water seeping out the the bottom cover is usually a good indicator that enough fertilized water has been used.
